From clay tablets to desert caravans.
A cut from both films: the Assyrian scripts and the Early Islamic era.
Two eras, one oasis.
We made two animated history films about Al-Jouf and Dumat Al-Jandal — “Al-Jouf in the Assyrian scripts” and “Early Islamic era”.
The first film starts with animated maps: trade routes between Mesopotamia and the Arabian Peninsula meet at Dumat Al-Jandal. Then the story moves to the fortress, the clay tablets and the royal court, with processions of gift-bearers in rich colour.
The second film is painted in warm desert tones: caravans on the dunes, travellers resting under a tree, the fortress under a red sun and the old city walls. Both films carry bilingual titles in Arabic and English.
Two chapters of the same place.
Each film tells one era of Al-Jouf’s history.
