From sketch to orbit.
Storyboard, animatic, models, content and the show night — the whole process in one minute.
A space story told in light.
For the 20th anniversary of the International Space Station we made a 7-minute light show for the domed Kosmos pavilion at VDNH in Moscow.
The show ran across a long curved panoramic screen at the base of the hall and three projections above it — two arches and a central circle — so the whole pavilion became one space scene.
The story went from the first satellite and the view of Earth to the Moon, the ISS, biology and a greenhouse in orbit, a Moon base, the flight to Mars and the Solar System. Idea and story came from LBL communication group; we drew it, animated it, built it in 3D and delivered the show content.
Board, animatic, 3D, show.
Every scene was planned for the exact shape of the hall before a single frame was rendered.

The story drawn board by board for the arches, the circle and the panoramic screen.
→02Animatic
A timed photomatic of the full show, with sound, to lock the pace.
→033D
Satellites, the ISS, a Mars ship and a Moon base, modelled and lit for the screen.

04Show
The finished show live in the pavilion, on 19 November 2018.
One long canvas at the base of the hall.
Content for the curved screen was built as ultra-wide masters — here are loops cut from the show render.

Loops from the evening — filmed live in the hall, plus one clean render.
